What personal information we receive, why, how long we keep it and your rights.

You can buy on thriftx.co.uk as a guest or with a ThriftX account. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
We use two kinds of small file in your browser, both strictly necessary: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in to your account (for up to 90 days from your last visit), and a note of what is in your basket, which stays on your device.
Like any website, our server records basic technical information about each request (such as IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser type) so we can keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for up to 30 days.
Product photos on this site are loaded from eBay's image servers, so eBay receives the technical details your browser sends when it loads them.
When you check out, payment is taken by Stripe on its own secure page. Stripe handles your card details under its own privacy notice; we never see or store your card number. Stripe passes us the details we need for your order:
We use these to send your order (your name, address, email and phone go to the courier on the shipping label so they can deliver and send tracking updates), to show you your order and tracking, and to handle returns, refunds and claims.
We keep order records for as long as we need them to deal with your order and any claim, and then for as long as UK law requires us to keep business and accounting records (normally six years).
An account is optional. It holds your email address, when you signed in, and any passkeys you add (a passkey stores only a public key; your face or fingerprint never leaves your device). We email you a one-time sign-in code through our email provider, Resend.
If you are signed in when you check out, Stripe can keep your card and address so you don't have to type them again next time. That information stays with Stripe.
You can delete your account from the account page at any time. Your sign-in and passkeys are deleted straight away. Order records are kept for the legal period above, but are no longer linked to a login.
When you buy a ThriftX item, eBay handles your account and payment under its own privacy notice. eBay passes us the details we need to complete your order:
We use these to pack and send your order, arrange free local collection if you choose it, and handle returns, refunds and warranty claims. We keep order records for as long as we need them to deal with your order and any claim, and then for as long as UK law requires us to keep business and accounting records (normally six years).
If you comment on or message the ThriftX Facebook Page, Meta shares your Facebook name, profile ID and message with us. We use them to reply to you, including sending a discount code privately when you ask for one.
We keep a record of which comments and people have already received that week's code, so nobody is sent the same code twice. That record stays with that week's offer and is not used for anything else. Meta's own privacy policy covers how Facebook and Messenger handle your information.
If you contact us by email or WhatsApp, we use your contact details and message to reply and to deal with your question, order or claim. We keep the conversation for as long as it is needed for that purpose and for our business records.
We never sell your personal information. We share it only where needed to run the business:
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, and object to how we use it. Email support@thriftx.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
